Microemulsion and Sol-gel Syntheses of Oxide Nanoparticles for High Temperature Coatings and Hydrogen and Other Gas Sensing Applications; Metallic Nanomaterials Arrays through Template-assisted Electrodeposition; Laser and Plasma Forming of Nanocomposite Bulk Components; High Temperature Oxidation of IN-738LC and other Chromia- and Alumina-forming Superalloys for Gas Turbine and Filtration Applications; Synthesis of Metal-filled Carbon Nanotubes using Arc-discharge in Solution for Hydrogen Storage and Catalytic Applications; Nanomaterials based Coatings for High Temperature Applications; Chemical-mechanical Planarization of Cu and Ta; Engineered Nanoparticles in Nanobiotechnolgy for Enhancing Cell Longevity.

•  National Young Metallurgist Award for the year 1998, Ministry Steel and Mines, Govt. of India.
•  University Gold Medal for standing First in the First Class in B.E. Examination, 1986 in Metallurgical Engineering.
•  Institute Research Scholarship, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
•  Research Fellowship, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and was attached to the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Dept, I.I.T. Kharagpur, India .
•  Certificates of Honour for the performance as the Best Student Metallurgist in the year 1984-85 and 1985-86 from The Indian Institute of Metals , Durgapur Chapter, India .
•  National Merit Scholarship, Govt. of West Bengal , India .
