He has taught 24 different courses; eight at the Graduate level. A partial list of courses taught is: Advanced Hydrology (stochastic hydrology), Operations and Processes in Sanitary Engineering, Solid Waste Management, Man and Environment (to non-engineers), Hydrology, Hydraulics, Engineering Economics, Fluid Mechanics, Water Resources Design, Air Pollution Control, Resources Geography, Water Resources Engineering, and Resources Geography.
Currently, he is advisor to eight graduate students and seven undergraduate students. Sixty three (63) graduate students have completed their degrees with theses, two (2) with dissertation, and six (6) with research reports. Approximately 70% have been published reports. All published reports with his name are listed at the end of this vitae.
Also, Director of the Environmental Systems Engineering Institute, September 1971 to September 1974. As Director of the FTU Environmental Systems Engineering Institute, responsibility for environmental interdisciplinary research was given to Dr. Wanielista. A maximum of 30 faculty held membership in the Institute. These faculty represented the disciplines of civil engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, communications, political science, and marketing. During the three years Dr. Wanielista was the Director, approximately $200,000 was granted to the Institute. Another $200,000 was given to individuals or groups of individuals within the Institute but not under the Institute name.
Faculty Senate Representative for the College of Engineering for 1972-1975 and 1975-1976. During 1972, Dr. Wanielista was Secretary/Treasurer. Other University Committees include Graduate Research Council, Graduate Council, University Press, Judiciary Board, Chairman's Council, Promotion/Tenure Committee, Campus Development, and Academic Standards.
